Though only discovered around 100 years ago, Tikal has quickly become the most celebrated group of ruins in central america. Personally, I think any group of people who decide to live in the middle of nowhere, high up in the mountains and then, in their infinite wisdom, build huge temples full of really steep steps, without so much as a thought of an escalator, elevator, or any form of assisted ascension device, well...do we stand in awe with mouths agape, or just point and laugh.
